Simcoe-Grey MPP Jim Wilson responded to Dalton McGuinty's proposal to remove the Lord's Prayer from the Legislature today by asking "if Parliament doesn't keep our traditions, who will?""I'm a little tired of Christians having to give up their faith and their traditions," said Wilson. In pointing out that all of our laws and traditions are based on Judeo-Christian ethics, Wilson said that it is because of our traditions that so many immigrants have chosen to come to Ontario."This is just Dalton McGuinty trying to appease the very same religions he offended during the election," he said while also promising to fight the move. He suggested that other prayers be added instead of taking away the Lord's Prayer from the Legislature's daily proceedings. The local MPP is encouraging constituents to sign his petition to stop the change. It is available at his Alliston and Collingwood constituency offices and online at http://www.jimwilsonmpp.com/
